Privacy Policy

Payfence is built privacy-first. We don't run ads, we don't sell your data, and we never require you to link a bank account. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you have over it.

Who we are

Payfence is operated by Yellow Genie Ltd ("we", "us"). If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at hello@payfence.co.

What we collect

• Account details — your email address and password (stored only as a secure hash), and optional profile details you add such as your name, phone number, country, and profile picture.
• Financial data you enter — the accounts, transactions, budgets, bills, goals, debts and related records you choose to create in Payfence.
• Technical data — basic information needed to run the service securely, such as authentication tokens and limited request logs.

We do not require access to your bank accounts. Any bank connection, if offered, is entirely optional and initiated by you.

How we use it

• To provide the core product — storing, syncing and displaying your money data across the web app and your devices.
• To secure your account (sign-in, email verification, biometric unlock).
• To send essential service messages, such as verification and security emails.

We do not use your financial data for advertising, and we do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone.

Where your data lives

Your data is stored on secure, industry-standard cloud infrastructure. Profile pictures are stored with our image provider. For offline use, a copy of your data is also cached locally on your device so the app works without a connection; it syncs when you're back online.

Your rights and controls

• Export — download all of your data as CSV, JSON or PDF at any time.
• Edit — change your profile and records whenever you like.
• Delete — request account deletion from within the app; this ends your sessions immediately and schedules your data for removal.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you request deletion, your account is deactivated right away and your data is removed after a short grace period.

Children

Payfence is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above.
